Prospect Profile: Joe Vaughn

Joe Vaughn School: Kansas
Ht: 6-0 Wt: 290 40: 5.41 Year: 5Sr

Bio: Former junior college transfer who started the past two seasons. All-conference selection as a senior after being named Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year in ‘03.

Positives: Explosive yet undersized center who fights hard throughout the action. Quickly gets off the ball, fast to the second level and redirects to linebackers. Cognizant, works well with teammates and plays heads-up football. Explosive at the point and a solid position blocker who walls defenders from the action. Stays square and fights hard until the whistle blows.

Negatives: Dominated by large opponents and not a strong lineman who opens up the middle of the field.

Analysis: More of a blocker who needs help on the pivot rather than a center who can handle oneon- one situations by himself, Vaughn's best attributes are his explosiveness and hard work. Must find a home as an inexpensive backup at the next level.
