Prospect Profile: Rory Hennessey

Rory Hennessey School: Yale
Ht: 6-4 Wt: 285 40: 5.21 Year: 4Sr

Bio: Three-year starter at left tackle who's won both All-Conference and All-American honors in the past.

Positives: Collegiate tackle who projects to guard at the next level. Patient lineman who quickly gets off the ball into blocks, then uses outstanding body positioning to seal defenders from the action. Gets leverage on opponents, moves his feet throughout the play, and displays the ability to slide laterally. Nasty, blocks down on opponents and stays with the action. Anchors in pass protection or turns opponents off the line run blocking. Effectively uses angles, fights with his hands throughout the play and generally has a good feel for the position.

Negatives: Not a dominant drive blocker who gets movement. Lumbers about the field, marginally effective on the second level and best in confined quarters.

Analysis: A limited athlete and more of a finesse blocker then outright mauler, Hennessey is limited in the type of schemes he can play at the next level. Could backup at guard and possibly tackle for a zone blocking system which keeps his area responsibilities to a minimum.
