Prospect Profile: Doug Buckles

Doug Buckles School: Mississippi
Ht: 6-5.5 Wt: 311 40: 5.53 Year: 5Sr

Bio: Three-year starter at left guard who played 46 games with the first team in college. Awarded second team All-SEC honors as a senior.

Positives: Tough, consistent blocker best in a small area. Quick off the snap, plays with a nasty disposition and a solid position blocker who seals defenders from the action. Very quick with his hands, anchors in pass protection and gets movement from run blocks. Intelligent, understands the position and works well with teammates. Immediately picks up stunts or twists thrown by opponents and plays hard until the whistle blows.

Negatives: Lacks adjustment, not a natural knee bender and loses out to agile defenders. Struggles in motion and lumbers around the field.

Analysis: A scrappy blocker who's been very reliable on the college level, Buckles offers outstanding football intellect as well as growth potential. More of a backup at the next level, he is the type of prospect who can also see spot duty as a starter and has the potential to hang around the NFL for years to come.
