School: Northern Iowa
Ht: 6-4.5 Wt: 245 40:
4.75 Year: 5Sr
Bio: Former Iowa transfer who's
started the past two seasons. Totaled 21/299/6
as a senior, averaging 14.2 yards per reception.
Positives: Athletic, pass-catching tight end who's
flown under the radar screen the past two years.
Quickly releases off the line of scrimmage into
routes, runs well and makes plays down the
field. Extends his hands looking the pass in,
works to pick up positive yardage running after
the reception and creates mismatches in the
defensive secondary. Breaks down well playing
with good knee bend and works blocks hard.
Solid position blocker who displays jolt at the
point of attack.
Negatives: Not a dominant blocker at
the line of scrimmage or one who moves opponents
off the line. Marginally productive and saw
limited action his first three seasons in college.
Analysis: A prospect who may just be hitting
his stride, Thorn's game has been compared
to Jeremy Shockey by some. Took his play
to another level as a senior and offers a good
upside, yet still raw and needs repetition.
Prospect Profile: Andy Thorn
