a true freshman in 2002, when he posted 222/
1,237/16 on the ground and caught 12/104/2.
Challenged the NFL's draft eligibility requirements
last year and had his motion denied by
the Supreme Court.
Positives: Nice-sized runner with
impressive strength, balance and ball-handling
skills. Quickly gets through the open space on
the field. Sets up defenders and makes them
miss or runs over opponents, carrying the pile
for several yards. Displays a burst through the
hole and runs with authority.
Negatives: Had durability
issues in college. Marginal blocking skills.
Occasionally does too much east/west running.
Cannot run to daylight in the open field and does
not show speed on film. Has not played football
since January of 2003 and performed terribly
at the combine.
Analysis: A physically gifted
prospect who has made many a poor choice,
Clarett has several issues that must be resolved
before a team considers expending a draft
choice on him. a dominant running back at the
top of his game.
