AFC East Minicamp Notes

Buffalo Bills: The Bills have done everything they can to deal disgruntled veteran running back Travis Henry.

One of the biggest reasons why he has not been able to yield anything substantial in a trade is it's believed he has an issue with one of his knees. According to an NFL source, there is a concern with some teams that he has a condition that might not allow him to have full NFL career. Considering the shelf life of NFL running backs, it's understandable why teams would be reluctant to deal for Henry or to want to give him anything more than a late round pick.

Miami Dolphins

While the team has some interest in veteran free agent cornerback Ty Law because of the loss of second-year cornerback Will Poole (knee), it's probably a long shot that they sign him. They're already on the hook for $3.4 million to their No.1 cornerback Sam Madison for each of the next two seasons and $1 million for this season and $2 million this season to cornerback Reggie Howard. Don't forget they also have veteran cornerback Mario Edwards on a one-year deal and selected head coach Nick Saban's former cornerback at LSU in Travis Daniels.

New England Patriots

The team's interest in re-signing veteran free agent wide receiver Troy Brown could be tied to how new addition to their group of receivers David Terrell fares during their off-season program. If Terrell shows promise in their June camp, they could choose to pursue Brown further until past the starting of training camp. The problem is another team could have signed him by then such as New Orleans who could give him a chance to be their No.3 receiver which role was vacated then the team released Jerome Pathon.

New York Jets

While the team is on record as saying he will begin throwing next month, according to an NFL source, the team is privately concerned that starting quarterback Chad Pennington (shoulder) will be not be ready to participate fully at the beginning of training camp or could be very limited when practices begin on July 29.

Pennington had rotator cuff surgery on his right (throwing) shoulder on February 8. The issue is not whether he will be able to throw during training camp, it's more about being able to throw with velocity or strength.
