Scouting the SEC: Kentucky
A trio of receivers could get
late round consideration. Glenn Holt is a reliable pass catcher with nice size while Scott Mitchell
is a possession wide out effective on third down. Keep
an eye on Tommy Cook, another consistent pass catcher who returns for a
sixth season after sitting out last year with torn knee ligaments. All three are late round selections at best.
The defense offers potential starting LaMar Mills at tackle. Undersized, Mills is an explosive lineman who plays with leverage and makes plays laterally. He would be a good fit for a rotational system at the next level. Senior safety Muhammad Abdullah is an explosive defensive back with solid instincts. He is aggressive in run support and displays skill in coverage. He will get looks in the middle rounds. Junior linebacker Durrell White will be moved to defensive end this season. A terrific athlete, White displays outstanding range, lateral movement and stands out in pursuit. Lacking great instincts, White offers good upside for the next level but his draft stock will be hurt by the pending change of positions. Senior cornerback Antoine Hoffmann has potential as a dime back at the next level. One of the main stories in the off-season was that of the middle linebacker Chad Anderson. After a prolonged suspension Anderson left the team and is now preparing for next February's combine. A stout run defender, Anderson is strong at the point of attack and slashes through the trash to get the ball carrier. Not great in pursuit, he lacks a quick change of direction and is better playing downhill. Presently he looks like a late round pick.
