Scouting the SEC:
back Jerious Norwood combines vision and instincts to get the job done.
Following blocks anywhere on the field he possesses good first step
quickness and works hard to keep runs alive.
Not a back who picks up much yardage off initial contact, Norwood could
be a solid situational runner at the next level should he improve his pass
catching skills. Junior fullback Bryson Davis is a devastating lead blocker and a solid short yardage runner.
Another underclassmen to keep an eye on is tight end Blake Pettit,
a good pass catcher who creates mismatches in the defensive secondary.
Senior Chris McNeil is a hard working blocker on the pivot and
gets the job done with solid football intelligence.
Tackle Richard Burch did an outstanding job on the blind side last
season and looked like a good prospect. Strong
at the point, he combines size with overall body strength and is a solid
position blocker. Suspended from
the team after being arrested for selling marijuana, Burch left the program and
his football career is now up in the air.
Defensively Willie Evans is an undersized yet hard working pass rusher who displays speed to the flanks. Handled at the point of attack by a single blocker, Evans is a backup right defensive end at the next level who should also be a good special teamer. Safety Darren Williams is a hard-hitting run defender best making plays up the field. Consistently around the action, Williams goes for the knockout blow and lays opposing ball carriers out. Dismissed for violating team rules, Williams is on his way to Jacksonville State.
