SCOUTING REPORT- John Simon/ Louisiana Tech

John Simon      Louisiana Tech    5-9/193/4.61    5Sr

STATS & BIO: Versatile prospect moved in and out of the starting unit the past three seasons at both running back and wide receiver.  Team's top pass catcher last season totaling 71/743/10.5/4, carrying the ball only 29/134/4.6/2.  Leading rusher the prior season when his ground numbers were 109/565/5.2/0 and receiving totals 72/711/9.9/4.  Sophomore numbers were 79/757/9.6/2 catching the ball and 30/134/4.5/2 carrying it.  Used as a both a return specialist and on coverage teams throughout college.

THE GOOD: Versatile skill player that can be moved around the field.  As a receiver he runs adequate routes, extends nicely for the throw and displays soft hands, looking the pass in.  Effective running after the catch and elusive when the ball is in his hands.  At running back he displays vision, sees the field, follows blocks and is a quick-footed runner that bounces it to the outside or makes defenders miss in the open field.

THE BAD: Does not play with an aggressive style and tends to gather himself or protect his body if he hears footsteps as a wide out.  Has caught a lot of passes but does not display strong hands.  More quick than fast and cannot run to daylight or beat defenders in the open field.

THE SKINNY: Unlikely to be drafted but his ability to be used at several different spots on offense coupled with special teams skills gives him an opportunity to make a roster next year.  Free Agent.
