'06 NFL Draft Watch: Central Michigan

The Central Michigan program improved last season and hopes to take the next step in 2005. The team has a pair of free agent prospects on offense and one very good underclassman from the defensive side of the ball.

Scouting the MAC:  Central Michigan

Quarterback Kent Smith is a solid athlete who beats opponents throwing the ball or carrying it. Displaying a willingness to sit in the pocket and wait for receivers to come free, Smith zips the short throws or makes the pass on the move. Smith cannot drive the deep ball and makes a lot questionable decisions. His innate physical skills will get him consideration yet he must consistently produce as a senior.  Guard Jeff Jeneirou is a nasty blocker who attacks assignments and works to finish off defenders. Setting with a wide base, he displays strength and walls defenders from the action. Lacking adjustment, he is not light on his feet nor a blocker who finishes off defenders.

Junior defensive end Dan Bazuin is a speedy edge rusher who collapses from the outside to defend the run. Quick off snap, Bazuin works his hands throughout the action yet is easily pushed from his angle of attack. Possessing upside to his game, Bazuin must add bulk and strength to his frame over the course of the next few years to get a serious look in the 2007 draft.
