SCOUTING REPORT- Maurice Gordon/ Texas

SCOUTING REPORT

Maurice Gordon          Texas      6-1|250|4.77        5Sr

STATS & BIO: Former fullback moved into the starting rotation as a senior. Totaled 39/15/6 his final season.  Played both defensive tackle and defensive end but could ultimately wind up at outside linebacker or back at his original position.  Has been productive on coverage teams in the past.

THE GOOD:  Explosive lineman that's shown steady improvement throughout his college career.  Quick off the snap with a nice first step, effective if asked to twist or stunt and moves well laterally.  Displays a burst of closing speed bearing down on the ball carrier, gets to the flanks and makes plays against the run.  Breaks down well, plays with forward lean and holds his ground against blocks.

THE BAD: Must use his hands better to keep opponents off him as he lacks bulk and strength.  Handled in one-on-one situations and stymied at the point of attack.

THE SKINNY: A hybrid outside linebacker/situational pass rusher at the next level who must continue to display the special teams skills he played with in college.  Won't get drafted but would not be surprised to see him on an active roster come next September as either a fullback or special teams player.  Free Agent.
