Samson Satele is one of the most underrated blockers in the nation and the junior possesses terrific upside potential. An athletic lineman who plays with outstanding leverage, Satele is explosive at the point of attack and fundamentally sound. Displaying footwork in space, he is a solid position blocker and plays with great awareness. Used at guard his first two seasons in the program, Satele now moves to center and will be highly rated moving towards 2007. Brandon Eaton, a nice sized guard built low to the ground, is a terrific position blocker. Needing to improve his playing strength, he is not a finisher and only effective in a small area.
Hawaii offers a pair of defensive linemen to keep an eye on. Melila Purcell is a solid athlete who makes plays up and down the line of scrimmage from his defensive end position. Getting leverage on opponents, he easily changes direction and displays speed off the edge. Undersized, Purcell is controlled at the point of attack and presents himself as a backup at the next level. Academically ineligible as a true freshman, Purcell could earn another year of college eligibility if his grades are in order. Senior Nkeruwem Akpan is an inexperienced football player from Nigeria with terrific size and athleticism. Spending his first two years at Hawaii on the basketball team, this will be only his third season on the football field. Leonard Peters is a solid zone-safety effective defending the run. Displaying good recognition and awareness, he is an instinctive and could be effective in two-deep system the next level.
