SCOUTING REPORT- Roosevelt Williams/Tuskegee

Roosevelt Williams       Tuskegee     5-11|204|4.65     4Sr

STATS & BIO:  Savannah State transfer awarded several All-Conference honors in the past.  Finished his senior season totaling 14/5/12 defensively.  Junior totals were 32/4/23 on defense while averaging 9/17.2/0 returning kicks.  All-Conference selection at Savannah in '99 posting 30/2/9 on defense and 13/23.5/0 returning kicks.

THE GOOD: Nice sized cover corner with a good feel for his position.  Technically and fundamentally sound; fluid backpedaling off the line, smooth in his hips transitioning to run with opponents and solid ball skills defending the pass.  Quick breaking on the ball, displays a burst of closing speed and gets a hand in to deflect away the throw.  Times and anticipates his pass defenses well, gets up vertically and bats away the high throw.

THE BAD:  Looked like a man amongst boys at the low level of competition he played against but had great difficulty at the Senior Bowl.  Looked indecisive and hesitant early in the week, blew several cover assignments and was consistently getting beat.  Had difficulty staying with opponents out of their breaks and gave up a lot of receptions.  Started to come on towards the end of the sessions and played admirably in the game.  Did not have a good Combine and ran much slower than expected.

THE SKINNY:  Underlying skills to work with but it will take some time as he gets accustomed to both the speed and athleticism at the next level.  Did not have the outstanding post season he needed to push him into the draft's initial two frames.
