NFL Draft Scouting Report: Gabe Watson

Gabe Watson\DT\Michigan

Full Name: Gabe Watson         School: Michigan

Ht: 6-3.5     Wt: 335     40: 5.12     Yr: 4Sr

Pos: Powerful interior defender, tough to stop when on his game. Possesses terrific first step quickness, gets a lot of push up the field and an overwhelming force. Seemingly impossible to move off the point and takes up a lot of room in the middle of the line. Effective when he keeps his pads low to the ground. Displays the ability to change direction and move laterally.

Neg: For the most part gets tall and does not play with great balance. Must improve his hand technique and learn to protect himself. Looks poorly conditioned and does not play hard for 60 minutes.

Analysis: Possessing the potential to control the line of scrimmage, Watson is a big, dominant lineman when focused on the task at hand. Possesses great natural skills yet too often relies singularly on them to make plays. Must make football a priority, take his play to another level and properly conditioned himself if he's to ever meet the expectations of NFL scouts.
