Underclassmen Update: Cane Mutiny?

After a disappointing end to the '05 campaign by a team which many believed finished below expectations, numerous Hurricane players are not happy. As a result sources have told us several top underclassmen are ready to jump to the NFL.

It seems the campaign to keep Ryan Moore has failed and the receiver is set to enter the draft, something we originally reported in October.  While official word may not come for a few weeks those in the program do not expect Moore back in a Canes uniform next season.

The same sources told us Devin Hester is also on his way out.  Several factors are playing into Hester's decision; the primary one being he is not guaranteed to be the starting cornerback next season.

Word around campus is that Baraka Atkins is also ready to make the exodus.  All indications given by Atkins is he will also enter the draft.

The feeling in the scouting community is that Bowling Green quarterback Omar Jacobs is heavily leaning towards entering the draft at this point.  Jacobs mother stated weeks ago her son would seriously explore moving to the next level.

Finally, Mississippi linebacker Patrick Willis could announce any day now that he will enter the draft.  Willis is zeroing in on which agent will represent him next year.
