Sources have told us that one cause of friction between New York Jets general manager Terry Bradway and former head coach Herm Edwards was personnel decisions. Evidently there was a reluctance on the part of Edwards to give his opinion on the potential of would-be draft picks during the scouting process. This seemingly happened continually even though Bradway would consistently ask Edwards his thoughts on certain college players.
While no one is officially talking, it seems cornerback Alan Zemaitis of Penn State just made the decision to pull himself from the game at the last minute with no good reason. So sure were Senior Bowl officials that Zemaitis would play, an equipment bag with his name and the game's logo sat downstairs in an office at the Riverview Plaza Hotel on Wednesday.
The activity continued through Thursday's practices as teams tried to get a last word in with future prospects. Phil Savage of the Browns interviewed Will Blackmon, continuing the franchise's streak of talking with defensive backs through the week. The Giants did much the same speaking with David Pittman and later turning their attention to the offensive line, conversing with Ohio State center Nick Mangold.
