Implementing a passing offense at Nebraska was difficult but quarterback Zac Taylor now has a good understanding of the system. A short yardage passer who patiently waits for receivers to come free, Taylor shows poise and awareness on the field. Lacking the big arm he is a late round selection who will backup in the NFL. Center Kurt Mann is an explosive and intelligent blocker on the pivot. Outstanding with the shotgun snap, Mann possesses a nasty attitude but needs to add bulk to his frame. He presently sits as a late round pick who could move into the middle frames with a strong senior season. Dane Todd could be the next in a long line of Nebraska fullbacks who enter the league. An aggressive blocker who walls defenders from the action, Todd is also solid receiver out of the backfield and an explosive player who goes hard until the whistle blows. NFL scouts will heavily focus on tight end Matt Herian who makes his way back onto the field after year and a half on the sidelines. A tremendous pass catcher who consistently made difficult receptions down the field, Herian, was the Cornhuskers most reliable target until suffering a devastating leg injury in 2004. Formerly presenting himself as a potential first round selection, Herian is now a wait and see prospect.
Defensive end Adam Carriker is a tenacious pass rusher consistently causing disruption up the field. Quickly getting off the ball with a good first step Carriker plays with leverage and shows speed off the edge. Possessing a long/lanky build Carriker gets stymied at point and must add bulk to his frame. A big senior campaign could throw him into the late part of round one. Cornerback Zackary Bowman displayed a lot of skill as a junior last season, his first on the field with the Cornhuskers. Possessing good size, Bowman is a sound tackler and cover man who works well with safeties. He has first day potential.
