Wow! Philadelphia Eagles Donovan McNabb went off in the second half of MNF with 4 TDs (2 rushing) to put the exclamation point on the win for his fantasy owners. Mark Brunell feasted big with WR Santana Moss for 3 TDs and large yards against a solid Jacksonville Jaguars defense. In a shootout, it was Marc Bulger and the St. Louis Rams over the Detroit Lions at home...Bulger tossed for 328 yards and 3 TDs in the effort. It was a Byron Leftwich homecoming in Washington...Leftwich stepped up to the occasion with nearly 300 yards passing and 3 scores against a solid Washington Redskins defense. Cleveland Browns QB Charlie Frye capitalized on a woeful Oakland Raiders team with 3 TDs and a Browns win. Lions QB Jon Kitna was on the short end of the shootout loss to the Rams, but Kitna produced nicely in the game with nearly 300 passing yards and a couple of TDs. The New Orleans Saints suffered their first loss of the season on the road to the Carolina Panthers...QB Drew Brees thew for a whopping 349 yards and a TD in the game.
*McNabb rushed for 47 yards on 5 carries (incl. 2 TDs)
As predicted, stud RB Larry Johnson finally got on track this week against the San Francisco 49ers...Johnson rushed for over 100 yards (with 2 TDs) and had another 40+ yards in the win over San Fran. Believe it - rookie phenom Laurence Maroney is a STUD...Maroney busted it for 125 rushing yards (at over 8 ypc!) and 2 scores in the dominating performance over the Cincinnati Bengals. Speaking of dominating, the Chicago Bears smashed the Seattle Seahawks in the mouth all game...RB Thomas Jones did his share with around 100 yards and a couple of TDs. RB Kevin Jones (no relation to TJ) had very similar numbers to Thomas in a Lions loss to the Rams. In the same game, the Rams Steven Jackson looked fantastic running and catching to gain 146 total yards and a score. Oakland Raiders RB LaMont Jordan got it going a bit at home against Cleveland...Jordan averaged over 6 ypc for 128 yards and a TD in the loss. Washington RB Clinton Portis faced a tough Jax run defense, but Portis made it look easy with 140 total yards and a TD. Another Jones (Julius Jones) made our top RB performers list with 122 rushing yards and TD against a weak Tennessee Titans defense. DeShaun Foster and Jerious Norwood each rushed for over 100 yards and a TD apiece in wins for the Panthers and Falcons on their home fields. Indianapolis Colts rookie running back Joseph Addai continues to be featured as Edgerrin James' replacement...Addai had a nice game against the New York Jets with nearly 100 total yards and a TD in a tight win. On the other side of the ball, it was Jets RB Kevan Barlow who capitalized with 2 TDs on Colt errors (advantage for the rare fantasy owners who dared to start him). Rudi Johnson and Willis McGahee each had decent yards and a TD apiece, but only Buffalo's McGahee was able to come away with a win. Reuben Droughns, Vernand Morency, Ronnie Brown, and LaDainian Tomlinson all gained over 100 total yards for their teams, but none were able to find their way across the goal-line.
Santana Moss caught only 4 balls against the Jags, but 3 were for TDs in a 138 yard performance...wow! In the same game, it was Jax WR Reggie Williams that caught the TDs...Williams caught 2 touchdowns and had 93 yards in the game. Detroit's Mike Furrey made the best of having Roy Williams on the other side...Furrey had 82 yards and 2 scores in the shootout loss to the Rams. Greg Lewis had a similar effort on MNF in Philly, but Lewis only needed 2 receptions in the game to make for a perfect night...both for TDs. Marques Colston caught balls for a bunch of yards (132) and a TD. Dallas Cowboys veteran WR Terry Glenn overcame stitches in hand and played on the road at Tennessee...Glenn healed quickly as he caught 2 TDs in the win. Bernard Berrian, Torry Holt, Andre Johnson, and Isaac Bruce all had over 100 receiving yards and a TD in wins for their respecitve teams. Steve Smith caught 10 balls and scored a touchdown in the win over the Saints. Eddie Kennison was on the receiving end of Damon Huard's passes several occasions in Sunday's win over the Niners...one of them for a TD. Roy Williams had monster yards (139) for the Detroit Lions, but was not able to find the endzone in the game as the Rams double and triple teamed him on nearly every play...especially during the 2nd half.
*Glenn also rushed for 22 yards on 1 carry
Baltimore Ravens QB Steve McNair looks for TE Todd Heap every time the Ravens enter the red zone...Heap again came through - this time against the San Diego Chargers for 60 yards and a TD. Tennessee's Ben Troupe caught a TD in a loss to Dallas. New England's Daniel Graham got into the action in the rout over the Bengals with a score. Kellen Winslow Jr. added a TD against the Raiders in the win in Oakland. Chris Cooley was a definite factor for the Washington Redskins with his 70 receiving yards, but Cooley was held out of the endzone.
News and Notes - Michael Vick ran 11 times for 101 rushing yards in the win over the Cardinals, but Vick failed to find the endzone... The Chicago Bears definitely are the best team in the NFC through 4 weeks and the 1985-esque Chicago defense has completely neutralized fantasy points from opposing skill players...Albert Haynesworth disgraced his team, community, and family with a stomp to the unprotected head of a Dallas player (resulting in 30 stiches to the forehead) - Haynesworth has since been handed a record 5 game suspension that will make things even worse for the struggling Titans defense...The Colts barely squeaked by a win over the Jets to go 4-0 in a game where the final 2 minutes are worth another look (esp. the blooper reel final play)jets final play...Philly's Brian Westbrook was held out of the MNF game last minute and hurt his owners - Westbrook's knee injury could linger and affect further games...Donte' Stallworth left the same MNF game with an ailing hamstring injury - Stallworth (who has a history of hamstring injuries) may also suffer lingering effects and should be watched closely...The Oakland Raiders looked better against the Cleveland Browns, but still are not a good football team...Kansas City QB Trent Green is reportedly at least 4 weeks away from playing - Damon Huard is doing surprisingly well in his absence...Arizona veteran QB Kurt Warner has fumbled 11 times in 4 games and has officially been benched in favor of rookie Matt Leinart for week 5...Rookie QB Vince Young struggled in his first start in Tennessee on Sunday and was frustrated at missed opportunities...Cincinnati Bengals off-field troubles may have finally caught up to their team and affected them on the field - evidence provided by the recent New England Patriots pounding in week 4 (maybe coach Marvin Lewis changes from his risky draft strategy in 2007)
