Many in Dallas got their wish when young Tony Romo replaced veteran Drew Bledsoe...Romo fans were rewarded on Thanksgiving Day as he delivered 5 (FIVE) passing TDs for the Dallas Cowboys and fantasy owners fortunate enough to start him over the Bucs. Rookie phenom Vince Young kept playing after being down 21-0 going into quarter 4...Young credited the Titans with 3 TDs and the win as the New York Giants fell apart like a stale biscuit. Carson Palmer continues to play of late like one of the top fantasy QBs in the game...Palmer helped rout the Browns with 275 passing yards and 3 TDs while coasting to a victory. Brad Johnson finally got things headed in the right direction with 271 yards and 3 TDs in a win over the Arizona Cardinals. Joey Harrington's homecoming to Detroit was special (for Joey) as he ripped up the Lions for 3 scores in the annual Thanksgiving Day special. Drew Brees' record setting pace continued on Sunday with another 349 yards (plus 2 TDs) in the impressive win over the Atlanta Falcons in Atlanta. No fantasy owners thought Matt Hasselbeck would pull through on MNF after a 3 INT snowy start in the first half...but H-beck came on in half number 2 with 3 touchdowns and a win over the Green Bay Packers. Matt Leinart tossed the ball 51 times for 405 yards in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Houston's David Carr threw it even more (54 times) and ended with a respectable 321 yards and a TD for the Texans.
*Young also had 10 carries for 69 yards (including a rushing TD)
The fantasy player of the week goes to (drumroll please) rookie RB Joseph Addai who solidified his position as a current and future NFL star with a high-powered offense...Addai busted it for over 200 total yards and 4 (FOUR) TDs to set a few records and give the Colts the win. It happens rarely, but LaDainian Tomlinson had to settle for 2nd overall this week of all NFL RBs...LT ran for 2 TDs and threw another to lead the Chargers to a (closer than expected) win over the Oakland Raiders. St. Louis STUD RB Steven Jackson once again had huge all purpose yardage (192) with a compliment TD in the win over the Niners. Chester Taylor and Brian Westbrook each had 170+ total yards and a score...the difference being that Taylor got a win. Frank Gore is having a huge season...but Gore's 165 total yards wasn't enough to pull out the win over the Rams. Larry Johnson ran for 157 rushing yards and a score in the Chiefs win. Marion Barber scored 2 TDs for the second week in a row for the Cowboys. Shaun Alexander is back!...and his 201 rushing yards proved he's totally and completely healed beyond doubt. Deuce McAllister continued as a nice compliment to Drew Brees and the Saints...the Deuce scored 2 TDs against Atlanta. Buffalo's Willis McGahee was questionable to start against Jacksonville, but not only did McGahee start - he scored 2 TDs! Brandon Jacobs (who remind many of Marion Barber) did what he does best on Sunday...score TDs (2) from inside the redzone. Rookie Maurice Jones-Drew looked good against Buffalo as he scamplered for 125 total yards and a TD in the Jags win. Ahman Green wasn't great in the Seattle snow on MNF, but he did manage to gain 40+ receiving and 40+ rushing yardage (and a score) in the loss to the Seahawks. Tiki Barber, Ladell Betts, and Fred Taylor all had 100+ yard games for their respective teams, but none were able to find the endzone
*Tomlinson's TD pass went for 19 yards to TE Antonio Gates
Miami's Joey Harrington found Marty Booker (an ex-Bear) 7 times for 115 yards and 2 scores in a tough home loss for Lions fans. Devery Henderson came up big again for the Saints with a whopping 158 receiving yards and a TD. Terry Glenn had 2 TDs for the Cowboys at home on Turkey Day. Superstar Cards WR Anquan Boldin went 9 for 140 and a TD in a tough loss to the Vikes in Minnesota...and Boldin's teammate Larry Fitzgerald caught 11 for 172, but was held without a score. Jets WR Laveranues Coles got his game back on track with 9 receptions for 111 yards and a score from QB Chad Pennington. Terrell Owens didn't disappoint Dallas fans with his 100+ yard receiving effort (plus a TD). Chris Henry caught 2 of Palmer's 3 TDs in the blowout win over the Browns. Andre Johnson caught a late TD as part of his 10 reception/98 yard game. Marcus Robinson and Donald Driver each had 82 yards and a TD. Roy Williams started out the 1st quarter with HUGE yardage, but seemed to disappear with QB Jon Kitna for the next 3 quarters. Chad Johnson caught 7 for 123 yards to continue a solid fantasy streak. Jerricho Cotchery and Bernard Berrian both went over 100+ receiving yards, but neither made it into the endzone.
New England TE Ben Watson continued his role as QB Tom Brady's favorite target...Watson caught 6 for 89 yards and a score in the huge Pats win over the Chicago Bears. Chris Cooley had 89 yards on only 3 grabs (and a score) for the Skins. Antonio Gates caught his TD from a running back...LaDainian Tomlinson hit Gates on a 19 yard pass to help secure the Chargers win over the Raiders. Todd Heap is amazing...all he does is catch TDs inside the redzone. Titans TE Bo Scaife had a huge play at the end of week 12 to knock off the Giants. Veteran TEs Randy McMichael and L.J. Smith each had 20+ yards and score. Kellen Winslow Jr. and Jermaine Wiggins each had 6 receptions for 52 yards for their owners, but neither found the endzone.
News and Notes - Rex Grossman looked horrible (again) in the Bears loss to the Patriots (Bears now at 9-2) - Grossman's lack of discipline and multiple turnovers will continue to cost the Bears and fantasy owners who stay with him and his ill-advised pass happy arm...Shaun Alexander is back and rolling - his 201 yards on MNF are likely a sign of things to come...Teammate Matt Hasselbeck straightened it out after throwing 3 picks in the first half - he should continue to do well down the stretch as he shakes off built-up rust from the past 4 weeks...Jeff Garcia didn't look like the answer for the Eagles and shouldn't be started in any fantasy format...Those who listened and started RB Joseph Addai were rewarded in week 12 - although owners with Colts skill players in weeks 15-17 may just be in a bit of trouble as Indy rests its team...Michael Vick's (aka Ron Mexico) didn't do himself, his team, or his sponsers any favors as he flipped a double bird to paying fans in Atlanta - but Vick did run for an impressive 166 yards as his wide receivers dropped nearly every pass thrown their way...QB Eli Manning and the New York Giants are reeling after a 21 point 4th quarter comeback win by the Tennessee Titans - only due to the remarkable breakdown by many on the Giants team...The Dallas Cowboys released K Mike VanderJagt and signed free agent Martin Grammatica...The 7-4 Denver Broncos have decided to bench veteran QB Jake Plummer in favor of rookie QB Jay Cutler with just 5 games left in the regular season
