Fantasy Top Performers - Week 13

Week 13 is over and in the books. We've compiled and wrapped up the week with this week's Fantasy Top Performers column. See below for compiled stats and in-depth analysis...and check back each Tuesday as we'll continue to break down the stars all season long!

QUARTERBACKS

Trent Green is back and accurate for the Kansas City Chiefs, but Green's 4 TDs weren't enough in week 13 against the surprising Cleveland Browns. The season isn't yet over for the Philadelphia Eagles...that is if Jeff Garcia continues to throw for 3 TDs and 300+ passing yards like he did in the MNF win over the Carolina Panthers. Speaking of Carolina, Jake Delhomme struggled and lost...but not before throwing for 3 touchdowns to please his fantasy owners. Marc Bulger tossed it for 300+ and a couple scores in a loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Rookie QB Vince Young was no Peyton Manning on Sunday, but Young had better fantasy stats and played well enough to get the win over the Colts in Nashville. Eli Manning looked better this week against the Dallas Cowboys...Eli threw for 270 yards and 2 TDs in the loss. Chad Pennington played well against Green Bay and got the win (and threw a couple of TDs). Peyton Manning, Jon Kitna, and Tom Brady all threw for over 300 passing yards...but TDs were scarce among the trio.

RUNNING BACKS

Most realized that the Reggie Bush preseason fantasy hype was overdone and Bush was overrated by week 4, but those who stuck with Bush and played him in week 13 were heavily rewarded...Bush went for 4 (FOUR) TDS and 131 receiving yards in another Saints win. Bush did well, but it's LaDainian Tomlinson that has been the man all year...LT busted the Bills for 192 total yards and 2 TDs to help boost the Chargers into a tie for the lead in the AFC. Corey Dillon and Marcel Shipp aren't the main RBs for their respective teams, but each went for 3 (THREE) touchdowns...too bad that few owners had either in their starting lineup. NYJ's carousel of running backs produced a winner on Sunday with 2 TDs and 129 total yards from Cedric Houston. In DeShaun Foster's absence, it was rookie DeAngelo Williams that filled in nicely on MNF...Williams went for 175 total yards and a TD to potentially steal the starting job from Foster. Ladell Betts had a huge game for the Washington Redskins with 173 total yards and a TD. Marion Barber continued his dominance as the clear fantasy RB in Dallas...Barber added another 2 TDs to his total. Brian Westbrook "Mr. Versatility" had another nice MNF game with 124 total yards and a TD in Philly's win over the Panthers. Reuben Droughns surprised with 19 touches for 118 yards and a score after being declared benched earlier in the week. Jerious Norwood rushed for 107 yards on 9 carries (plus a TD). Steven Jackson went off (again) with 165 total yards, but failed to reach the endzone against the Cardinals. Shaun Alexander rushed for 90 yards and a TD in the Seahawks win. Tiki Barber and Kevin Jones ran and caught for 140+ total yards each, but neither scored. Ciatrick Fason (who?) put up 80+ yards and a TD, but no way did any owner reap any benefits as Fason remained on the week 13 waiver wire in most FFLs. Tatum Bell, Deuce McAllister, Ahman Green, Larry Johnson, and Edgerrin James all rushed for well over 100 yards, but none of the group found the endzone. Chester Taylor, Travis Henry, and Ron Dayne needed combined passing and rushing yardage to achieve 100 for the week, but none were able to score for their team.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Colts phenom Marvin Harrison got much of his yardage and his score early, but the Harrison and the Colts weren't able to capitalize on the performance and lost late in the game. Matt Jones finally got some numbers for his talent...Jones went 6 for 128 yards with a TD. Mike Furrey and Santana Moss each had 123 yards and a touchdown in losses for the Lions and Skins. Eddie Kennison had his number called 7 times for 117 yards...and was able to find the endzone for the Chiefs. Torry Holt had a nice game for the Rams...but St. Louis fell again despite Holt's effort. Donte Stallworth proved his hamstring is mostly healed and that he can play with Jeff Garcia...Stallworth looked good in his 111 yard effort (and TD) on MNF. T.J. Houshmandzadeh caught a whopping 10 balls for 106 yards and a TD in Cincy's win over the Ravens. Jerricho Cotchery was 9 for 99 and 1 (TD) in the Jets win. Derrick Mason had a decent game against the Bengals and managed to score. Reggie Brown and Antonio Bryant each went for 79 yards with a TD. Chris Chambers and Reche Caldwell each had 8 grabs for over 100 yards, but neither crossed the goalline.

TIGHT ENDS

Tony Gonzalez had a great game despite the loss to the Cleveland Browns...Gonzo caught 9 balls for 105 yard with 2 TDs in his best game this season. And it was Steve Heiden who caught 2 TDs of his 5 receptions to give his team the win. Antonio Gates was 7 for 90 yards with a TD for the Chargers. Jeremy Shockey had a nice game for the Giants and scored 1 TD. Michael Vick's favorite is Alge Crumpler...and nothing changed in week 13 as Vick again found Crumpler in the endzone for a TD. Chris Baker and Heath Miller each had a TD for their respective teams. Jason Witten had a whopping 73 receiving yards, but Witten was held out of the endzone.

News and Notes - Broken record - Rex Grossman looked horrible (again) - this time he had a passer rating of 1.3 (ONE POINT THREE)...Jeff Garcia looked much better in the Eagles win over the Panthers on MNF...Colts head coach Tony Dungy gets credit for a poor coaching decision (and one that contributed to his team losing late on Sunday) - Dungy's waste of his last timeout solidified Jeff Fisher's decision to go for the 60 yard field goal (and Rob Bironas made the kick to give the Titans the win!)...Colts fans were discouraged by the loss to Tennessee, but Peyton Manning, Joseph Addai, Marvin Harrison, and Reggie Wayne owners were tickled to see that the Colts wouldn't be resting their players any time soon...The NFC has a huge glut at the wild card slot - 4 teams are 6-6 (Eagles, Giants, Atlanta, and Carolina)...And if that weren't enough, the AFC has a similar wild card situation with 4 teams at 7-5 (Jets, Bengals, Broncos, and Chiefs)...Good news for fantasy owners is that most teams will be playing their studs through the fantasy playoffs!
