While being interviewed on Sirius NFL Radio, Denver cornerback Champ Bailey was asked about his matchup with Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson last weekend in the Broncos' dramatic one-point victory.
"Well I'll tell you what, man, it was a total team effort, it's not about me and Chad," he said. "When you face a guy like that, you'd better come with your 'A' game.
"I felt like we had a great game plan for dealing with Chad. He's one of the toughest receivers because he's so quick, fast and he's determined to make the big catches."
With Johnson being well-known for his pregame comments that can become a distraction or challenge for some opponents, Bailey said none of that phases him.
"I prepare well. There's nothing anybody on the field can say to me, or before the game, to rattle me or get me out of focus," he said with confidence. "I've been around a while, I've faced the best of the best..."
Bailey was asked what was going through his mind right before the Bengals missed the extra point that would have tied the game and also about what the Denver defense did to keep Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer off balance.
And then he talked about the reaction of the veterans on the team when they found out a few weeks ago that they were going to have a rookie quarterback, Jay Cutler, leading their offense the rest of the season.
"We have a lot of confidence in the young fella; we see him everyday in practice, we know the type of ability he has," said Bailey.
Listen to the full 12-minute interview, compliments of Sirius NFL Radio, as the Bailey and the show's hosts also discuss some candidates for Defensive Player of the Year honors.
