Donovan McNabb silenced his critics as the Eagles went off on the Detroit Lions (but a few of us would still like to rip the Philly choice of unis this past Sunday)...although McNabb's completion percentage was only 37.5%, the 56 attempts yielded 381 yards and 4 TDs for McNabb and his fantasy owners. Tom Brady has only 18 incompletions in 3 games and is look amazing again on Sunday with another 4 TDs and 300+ yards...Brady is well on pace to break Peyton Manning's TD record and finish ahead of Manning as the top fantasy QB this season (as predicted). Green Bay fans are believing again as the Pack defeated the San Diego Chargers to go 3-0 thanks to the play of Brett Favre and his 369 yard - 3 TD performance. Philip Rivers had his best game of the season (300+ yards / 3 TDs) in a loss to the Packers. Jon Kitna's team was blown out...which gave Kitna a chance to put up some decent passing numbers (446 yards / 2 TDs). Matt Hasselbeck threw for 3 TDs in his best showing this season. Newly signed QB Byron Leftwich is on the heals of Joey Harrington in Atlanta and may have motivated Harrington's play this past week...Harrington went 31 of 44 for 361 and 2 TDs in a nice game (but the Falcons still lost). Chad Pennington completed only 15 passes for 124 yards, but 2 of his passes were TDs and Pennington was also able to rush for a score. Carson Palmer threw 43 times for 27 completions and wasn't as sharp as in the first two weeks, but Palmer still produced 342 yards and a TD for fantasy owners. Trent Green threw 23 of 36 for 318 yards and a TD in his best game this season.
Brian Westbrook and Ronnie Brown were both huge for their respective teams with nearly exact 200+ yard versatile totals and 3 TDs each. DeShaun Foster carried 20 times for 122 yards and had 2 TDs in a solid game for Foster. Marion Barber continues to impress in Dallas...Barber scored another 2 TDs this week (against the Chicago Bears). The Colts continued to roll to 3-0 and Joseph Addai played another huge role with nearly 100 yards and 2 TDs. With Cadilliac Williams leaving early due to his rib injury, Earnest Graham came in and put up 75 yards on only 8 touches...and Graham also scored 2 TDs for the Bucs. LaMont Jordan didn't have 159 yards like he did in weeks 1 ad 2, but he was close with 153 (and a TD)...Jordan now has 443 total yards in just 3 games. Adrian Peterson did manage to shred the Kansas City defense for 150 yards and a TD, but the Chiefs got the win over the Vikes. Clinton Portis put up nearly 100 and a TD for the Skins. Reggie Bush didn't get a ton of yardage on MNF, but he did have two scores to please his concerned fantasy owners who used one of their top round picks to sign him. LaDainian Tomlinson carried 22 times for 62 yards against the Packers (now 57/130 or 2.3 ypc for the season)...not that LT's numbers are horrible (he did have 95 yards and a TD in the game against Green Bay), but his numbers definitely don't stack up to expectations. Fast Willie Parker and Steven Jackson had huge yardage games in week 3, but Jackson is now reported out for week 4 with a 4th quarter groin tear suffered against Tampa Bay. Reuben Droughns carried 3 times for 3 yards (awful huh?)...well, Droughns scored 2 TDs on those 3 yards. Willis McGahee, Derrick Ward, Thomas Jones, Shaun Alexander, and Laurence Maroney all put up over 100 total yards, but none of the backs were able to find the goalline.
Kevin Curtis caught 11 for 221 yards and 3 TDs against the Detroit Lions in week 3...what may make this even more impressive is that Curtis scored 4 TDs on 479 yards in 16 games for the St. Louis Rams in 2006. Anquan Boldin waited until game 3 to get two-thirds of his receptions, yardage, and TDs with a huge game...Boldin caught 14 for 181 and 2 TDs as Kurt Warner came in and replaced sophomore Matt Leinart for the Cardinals. Roy Williams is a super talent and showcased with a 204 yard performance (plus a TD) in the loss to the Eagles. Randy Moss now has 403 yards and 5 TDs on the season after Sunday's 100+ yard / 2 TD game...Moss and Brady are currently the number one WR and QB fantasy players in the NFL. T.J. Houshmandzadeh caught another 12 balls to give him 29 (TWENTY-NINE) receptions for the season (leads the NFL)...Housh made use of his receptions for 141 yards and a TD. Atlanta's Roddy White made our Top Performers list this week with a 127 yard / 1 TD game. Donald Driver caught 6 of Brett Favre's passes for 126 yards and a TD. Vincent Jackson had 98 yards and a score. Plaxico Burress caught a TD with 86 yards from QB Eli Manning...Burress now has 5 TD receptions in his first 3 games. Terrell Owens had a huge game against the Bears with 145 yards on 8 receptions, but was unable to find the endzone. Braylon Edwards and Greg Jennings each caught 4 for 80+ yards and a TD apiece for their respective teams. Chad Johnson caught 9 for 138 yards to boost his yardage total to 442 for the season (leads the NFL). Brandon Marshall and Chris Chambers each had over 100 receiving yards, but were unable to find the endzone.
Jason Witten caught 6 for 90 yards (with a TD) against the Bears to give him a couple TDs and over 250 yards on the season. Alge Crumpler had his best game this season with a 6 catch - 1 TD performance. Dallas Clark and Jeff King each had 4 grabs for 50+ yards and a TD. Antonio Gates caught a whopping 11 balls (has now caught 27 this season and is 2nd behind Houshmandzadeh for most catches in the league to date) for 113 yards (297 for the season). Tony Gonzalez, Kellen Winslow, Heath Miller, and Jeremy Shockey all had good yardage in week 3, but none of the group was able to score. Bo Scaife caught a TD on MNF from Tennessee QB Vince Young. Chris Cooley had only 19 yards on 3 receptions for the Redskins, but did manage to score a touchdown.
News and Notes - Reggie Bush finally got things going a bit on MNF with 2 TDs (and may be in for more in the near future if Deuce McAllister's knee injury lingers), but the Saints and Drew Brees are struggling and off to a miserable 0-3 start after leading the NFL in offense in 2006 - Brees threw 4 INTs in the loss to the Titans on MNF...The Rams revealed that QB Marc Bulger is playing with 2 broken ribs (if the season ending injury to Orlando Pace wasn't enough) - to add insult to Bulger's injury, Steven Jackson suffered a slight groin pull during the 4th quarter of the game against Tampa Bay and will miss a week or more...rett Favre threw The Saints are struggling at 0-2, but shouldn't be benched just yet - there is too much talent with Drew Brees, Reggie Bush, and Marques Colston to keep them down for long...Daunte Culpepper is preparing to be the starter in week 4 for the Raiders, but coach Lane Kiffin hasn't yet named his QB...Rookie Jacoby Jones played in week 3 for Andre Johnson (who is expected to sit again in week 4), but Jones separated his shoulder against the Colts and will miss time as a result...Vernon Davis will miss at least a couple of games with a partially torn MCL...Shaun Alexander is having a decent 2007 despite his ailing wrist (which has been revealed to be a crack instead of a sprain) - Alexander will likely play with the wrist cast all season and shouldn't affect his totals much...Calvin Johnson left the Eagles game with an injury that has been diagnosed as a bruised back - Johnson will be okay, but his status for week 4 is uncertain at this point...Rex Grossman continues to suffer strong criticism from nearly everyone (except coach Lovie Smith - although Smith hasn't yet named his week 4 starter) - maybe Donovan McNabb should take note of the unrelentless downgrading of Grossman (that contain no racial implications)...Jake Delhomme came out of Sunday's game with a strained elbow and is being listed day-to-day - David Carr replaced Delhomme in last Sunday's game...Kurt Warner entered the game for a struggling Matt Leinart against the Baltimore Ravens and nearly pulled off the win...Brett Favre tied Dan Marino's all-time NFL record with 420 TDs in a strong performance over the San Diego Chargers (SD is now 1-2 after letting coach Marty Shottenheimer go after a 14-2 season last year)
