2007 Power Rankings
  TW LW* Team Comments
1 (1) Patriots
The Patriots were far from perfect in their victories the past two weeks, but the key word in that statement was victories. It doesn't get any easier this week against Pittsburgh.
2  (2) Cowboys
I still have concerns about the secondary, but the offense is clicking. And Romo's ability to make time in the pocket and locate the open receiver has made him a difference-maker.
(3) Packers
The Packers have improved with each passing week on both sides of the football. The great Brett Favre has disproved the old adage that you can't teach an old dog a new trick.
4 (4) Colts
Despite the injuries and lack of success on the ground, the great Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne proved to be the difference in a critical division victory over the Jaguars.
(6) Steelers
Even with Roethlisberger, Parker and Ward, the Steelers are a mid-level offensive unit. The same can't be said about their dominant defense led by Harrison and Farrior.
(5) Jaguars
Garrard, the running combo of Taylor and Jones-Drew, kicker Josh Scobee, and a stingy defense may make the Jaguars the surprise entry in the AFC playoffs.
(9) Buccaneers
Luke McCown's 29 of 37, 313-yard, 2 TD performance on the road versus the Saints in his first start of the season was nothing short of sensational.
8  (8) Seahawks
Seattle has won 4 straight with virtually no running game. With a win this week they're a cinch to repeat in the NFC West. I have my doubts, but in the end it's all about winning.
(10) Browns
It appeared the Browns pulled off a miracle finish, but the football gods and officials thought differently. Penalties, turnovers and a shaky defense proved to be the difference.
10   (16) Chargers
When LaDainian Tomlinson is given his bit (23-177-2 TDs), he can take over a game. Such was the case in last week's impressive win over the fast-fading Chiefs.
11  (7) Giants
Giants appear to be a shoe-in to secure a playoff spot, but unless Eli can show vast improvement, look for their playoff run to be very short. Injury to Ward could be devastating.
12  (22) Vikings
The Vikings appear to have peaked at the right time. Adrian Peterson, backup Chester Taylor, and a surprisingly improving Tarvaris Jackson have been the difference.
13  (14) Cardinals
The Cardinals will play their most important game this week against Seattle. Veterans Kurt Warner, Edgerrin James, and multi-talented WR Larry Fitzgerald lead the way.
14  (17) Bills
Trent Edwards' 4th-quarter 30- yard completion to set up the winning field goal was reminiscent of that of another recent former Stanford QB.
15  (12) Redskins
Even worse than a Hall- of- Fame coach not knowing the consecutive timeout rule, it appears the lineman next to him along the sidelines was also totally unaware.
16  (20) Eagles
After a four-interception effort by A.J. Feeley, even the highly critical Eagles fans might welcome the return of maligned QB Donovan McNabb. This team's going no where.
17  (13) Titans
The Titans won for the first time out of the last four games, but at 7- 5 are still very much alive in the playoff picture. Offensively, the club has struggled to find any degree of consistency.
18  (19) Bears
The Bears are a flawed team that didn't address their needs during the offseason. Grossman has improved, but still lacks consistency and takes too many sacks.
19  (11) Broncos
After showing some mid-season improvement, Denver has lost two straight and find themselves in the position of having to win out and hope for the best.
20  (21) Panthers
Beating the 49ers doesn't bring the "P" word to the lips of most Panthers fans, particularly with Jacksonville and Seattle looming. The development of a young QB is essential.
21  (15) Lions
After a magical start, the Lions are now moving in the wrong direction. With only one winnable game left on the schedule, this might signal the end to the disastrous Matt Millen era.
22  (18) Texans
The Texans have shown modest improvement, but offensive help to compliment Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson is essential if this club is to take the next step in their development.
23  (25) Saints
What was last year's NFL Coach of the Year thinking with that schoolyard play with less then four minutes remaining? So far, Reggie Bush is just another guy toting the football.
24  (23) Bengals
The 4-8 Bengals have once again been a major disappointment and a change in philosophy might be in order. There are far too many "me guys" on this team.
25  (24) Ravens
Although not as talented defensively as past clubs, the Ravens proved on Monday night versus the Patriots that they can still be a formidable barrier for any NFL club.
26  (27) Rams
The Rams have defeated the 49ers, Falcons, and the Saints. The Bengals are seemingly the only potential win left on their schedule. A coaching change seems likely.
27  (29) Jets
Guys, you beat the winless Dolphins, you didn't secure a first-round playoff bye! A little humility might be nice, particularly with the Browns and Patriots up next.
28  (26) Chiefs
The Chiefs, losers of five straight , are going nowhere. The executive decision to go with either Damon Huard or Brodie Croyle contributed to the club's demise.
29  (30) Raiders
Justin Fargas and Josh McCown led Oakland to a win over the fading Broncos. But with the Packers and Colts up next, don't look for any late-season Silver and Black heroics.
28  (28) Falcons
I guess we give the Falcons a pass due to the Vick debacle, but upper management has made many poor personnel decisions over the last four seasons
31  (32) 49ers
Since their two wins to open the season, the 49ers have scored 16 or less points a game in nine of the next 10 contests. Mike Nolan and staff will be hard-pressed to survive this.
32  (31) Dolphins
After playing well in three of their last four contests, the Dolphins fell flat on their face versus the Jets. Could be a "one and done" for Dolphins coach Cam Cameron.
