UA Senior Bowl Q&A: WR Eddie Royal

Scout.com's Ed Thompson caught up with Virginia Tech wide receiver and return specialist Eddie Royal after practice this week. Find out what his week's been like and what he's hoping NFL team representatives have noticed about him this week in this exclusive Scout.com interview.

Ed Thompson:  What's your take on the whole Senior Bowl experience so far?

Eddie RoyalIt's been a great experience.  You get to meet a lot of people, a lot of coaches, a lot of scouts, you learn a lot about yourself.  You're going against the best and it's just great competition out here.

Thompson:  What's the most fun you've had so far?

Royal:  Just getting out here, doing one-on-ones against the corner.  It's a challenge, and that's the most fun you can have. You come here for that type of challenge.

Thompson:  Talk a little bit about the quarterbacks you're working with...

Royal:  They're the best in the country.  They make my job easy.  As soon as I get out of my cuts, the ball is there.  I'm loving it.

Thompson:  What are you hoping pro scouts will notice about you this week?

Royal:  That I'm a true wide receiver, an every-down wide receiver.  I'm not just a return guy.  I'm a good route-runner, I have good hands, and I'm a productive wide receiver.

Thompson:  What do you think will be your biggest challenge as you try to break into the pro level?

Royal:  Just adjusting to the speed of the game and getting into the flow of it.  I think I'll pick it up quick, you just have to get out there and experience it.  The game's just moving a lot faster out here now. And I'm sure it'll be that much faster at the next level.

Thompson:  You seem like a very focused individual. Has that trait been helping you as you're talking to teams this week?

Royal:  Yeah, I think that's important, because if you don't know the playbook, you can't go out on the field.  No matter how good you are, you have to know your plays.  You have to know where to line up, know your blocking assignments. Do it's the little things that count at this level.

Thompson:  What would you say is your best trait as a receiver?

Royal:  That's a tough one.  My speed, my hands, my route-running, they're all on the same level for me so you pick one. (laughs)

Thompson:  Anything you'd like to say to the Virginia Tech fans who will be watching you this weekend?

Royal:  Just thank you for the support.  I know you're cheering me on. We have a few Virginia Tech guys out here cheering me on in the stands, and just thank you for the support and everything you've done for me.
