A league source has told Scout.com that unrestricted free agent Jacques Reeves is visiting the Houston Texans today, the first day of the 2008 NFL free agency period. And on Saturday, he'll be visiting with the New Orleans Saints. Reeves will then head to St. Louis on Monday and Kansas City on Tuesday, making him one of this year's hot NFL free agents.
A 13-game starter in 2007, filling in as the Cowboys secondary was hobbled by injuries at both cornerback positions, Reeves proved that he was ready to be a starter. The 5-foot-11, 192-pound player registered 57 tackles, including 50 solo efforts in 2007. He defensed 12 passes, made his first career interception and forced a fumble.
Reeves explained why he's such an effective tackler, rarely allowing a broken tackle, in this exclusive Scout.com interview. "I keep my head up. I try to avoid stiff arms at all cost, try to keep my head up and I launch at the right time to hit him," he said.
And prior to starting the official free agency period, he said he really didn't have a preference about playing for any particular team. He just had two priorities regarding his future in the NFL.
"I'm willing to play for anybody who could use me on their team," he explained. "Like I said, I just want to play football and have the chance to win. Those are the two things I love to do."
Reeves, who is 25 years old, was originally a 7th-round draft pick by the Cowboys in 2004.
