Pre-Draft Team Needs-Dallas Cowboys

Dallas has various needs on both sides of the ball as we get closer to the NFL draft. Age is catching up to them at a few key positions.

Dallas Cowboys

Players Added

Zach Thomas/LB - He only signed for one season and turns 35 in September but Thomas will give the team veteran depth at ILB. He'll also provide good leadership to a very solid defense. Thomas can also play on third downs if needed.

Players Lost

Julius Jones/RB - Signed with the Seattle Seahawks.
Jason Ferguson/DT - Traded to the Miami Dolphins.
Keith Davis/S - Signed with the Miami Dolphins.
Jacques Reeves/CB - Signed with the Houston Texans.
Nathan Jones/CB - Signed with the Miami Dolphins.

Pre-Draft Team Needs

1) Cornerback - Dallas lost their nickel (Reeves) and dime corners (Jones) and some would argue starting CB Anthony Henry should be moved to safety.

Henry has missed seven games over the past three seasons but also has been limited in parts of others due to various knee and ankle injuries. Dallas would like to get younger at the position so it makes sense for them to address the position early in the draft.

2) Running Back - Marion Barber is coming off of two very solid seasons but some question whether he has the ability to be a productive starter over a 16-game regular season. Barber has only started three games in his short career and lacks breakaway speed which can make unblocked defenders miss tackles.

3) Wide Receiver - Top WR Terrell Owens turns 35 in December and fellow veteran WR Terry Glenn is coming off of an injury plagued season due to knee problems and turns 34 in July.

While the team signed WR Patrick Crayton to an extension last year, some would argue he's better off playing  in the slot.
