Pre-Draft Team Needs: Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals still have plenty of needs have on both sides of the ball as we get closer to the NFL draft. What do they need to do to get back to the playoffs? Details inside...

Players Added

Jordan Palmer/QB - Carson's little brother will compete for the No. 3 quarterback job.

Doug Gabriel/WR - The talented receiver was out of the league last season but will vie for a backup job.

Ben Utecht/TE - He'll be the pass catching tight end the team has lacked since the days of Rodney Holman.

Antwan Odom/DE - He finally put together a good season with the Tennessee Titans last year and that helped yield him a nice free agent deal with the Bengals.

Players Lost

Tab Perry/WR - The talented but oft-injured underachiever will get a chance to revive his career with the Miami Dolphins.

Alex Stepanovich/C - He'll back up at center for the Atlanta Falcons this season but can also play guard if needed.

Bryan Robinson/DL - The versatile veteran defensive lineman will line up at end with the Arizona Cardinals this season.

Justin Smith/DE - Despite lackluster sack results last season he signed a big free agent deal with the San Francisco 49ers who use a 3-4 defensive scheme. Odom will replace him with the Bengals.

Landon Johnson/LB - He'll start at WLB for the Carolina Panthers.

Lemar Marshall/LB - The veteran linebacker wasn't with the Bengals for very long last season and he remains unsigned.

Caleb Miller/LB - The undersized linebacker missed most of last season due to injury and he remains unsigned.

Madieu Williams/S - He signed for big money with the Minnesota Vikings and is expected to be replaced by Marvin White who the team is high on.

Pre-Draft Team Needs

Defensive Tackle - Their run defense has been porous for several seasons and depth at this position remains an issue as well .

Wide Receiver - With the decision to release Chris Henry and the Chad Johnson situation being what it is, the team will have to probably select two receivers fairly high in this year's draft.

Weak-side Linebacker
- With Landon Johnson moving on, there's an opening at the position although veteran LB Dhani Jones may get the first crack at the job.

Defensive End - Even though Odom was added, they could use at least one more solid pass rusher to along with him and Robert Geathers. It would be nice if they could get a three to four man rotation going at the position.
