Pre-Draft Team Needs: Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos seem to be a team that's in transition. We're taking a look at what positions they need to address in order to get back to the playoffs.

Players Added

Samie Parker/WR - The speedy receiver will contribute off the bench.

Keary Colbert/WR - Despite underachieving the past few seasons, Colbert will get a chance to start with Denver.

Casey Wiegmann/C - He'll back up Tom Nalen who is getting close to retirement.

Boss Bailey/SLB - He'll take over at SLB for D.J. Williams who will move to WLB.

Niko Koutouvides/MLB - Despite being a backup for his four seasons of play, Koutouvides will start inside.

Marlon McCree/S - He might back up John Lynch and he could eventually replace him.

Marquand Manuel/S - He hasn't played at a high level the past few seasons but Manuel will get a chance to start with Denver.

Players Lost

Javon Walker/WR - Despite his bad knees, Walker got a big free agent deal with the Oakland Raiders.

Stephen Alexander/TE - He's expected to retire.

Chris Myers/OL - He was traded to the Houston Texans who will insert him as their starting center.

Ian Gold/LB - He was released since the team wanted to move D.J. Williams to WLB.

Warrick Holdman/LB - He didn't play last year due to injury.

Nick Ferguson/S - He'll compete for playing time with the Houston Texans.

Jason Elam/K - He'll finish his career with the Atlanta Falcons. Matt Prater currently is the only kicker on the roster.

Pre-Draft Team Needs

Defensive Tackle - Denver was terrible against the run last season and the case could be made that they could use two starting tackles.

Right Tackle - Ryan Harris projects better to right tackle where Erik Pears is currently stationed. But Harris didn't start a game last season and Pears didn't play at a high level.

Left Tackle - Long-time starter Matt Lepsis retired last year and unless the coaches are sold on Chris Kuper and Ryan Harris, this position will need to be addressed.

Guard - Some personnel evaluators would say the team could use an upgrade over RG Montrae Holland. The team also has little depth behind both projected starting guards.

Wide Receiver - There's really no proven receiver left on the roster who is set to play opposite Brandon Marshall. Colbert and Parker are seen as backups around the league and Brandon Stokley is a slot receiver.
