Pre-Draft Team Needs: San Diego Chargers

San Diego Chargers executive vice president-general manager A.J. Smith has done a fantastic job of drafting the past five years. So good that the team has very few needs as we head into draft weekend.

Players Added

Derek Smith/ILB - His experience will add value to their young group of inside linebackers.

Players Lost

Michael Turner/RB - He got a big free agent contract with the Atlanta Falcons. Turner is a solid fit for Atlanta's power running game.

Lorenzo Neal/FB - Andrew Pinnock is replacing him as the starter but time will tell if he's an upgrade over Neal.

Shane Olivea/OT - He remains unsigned and may not play this season.

Marlon McCree/S - Eric Weddle is replacing him as the starter. Weddle is already looking like one of the better young free safeties in the AFC.

Drayton Florence/CB - He'll handle a nickel role with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Florence could push CB Brian Williams for playing time. San Diego is hoping second-year CB Paul Oliver will challenge for Florence's vacated position.

Pre-Draft Team Needs

Running Back - With Michael Turner gone, the team needs to find a suitable replacement who could start if needed.

Cornerback - With Drayton Florence signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars, the defense lacks an experienced nickel back.
