AFC Pre-Draft Insider Version 2.0

Here's an updated look at some possible draft selections for more AFC teams as we're now just one day from the NFL's annual selection weekend.

Buffalo Bills - Count Buffalo as yet another team that could trade down. While many mock drafts have them selecting WR Devin Thomas (Michigan St.), he could still be on the board if they trade down. The team also has a big need for a cornerback.

Cleveland Browns - Some other defenders to keep an eye on as the draft progresses that the team is believed to have some interest in are OLBs Curtis Gatewood (Vanderbilt) (rounds 4-5), Vince Redd (Liberty) (rounds 5-6), Angelo Craig (Cincinnati) (rounds 6-7).

Gatewood is probably the most ready of the three to compete for playing time as a rookie. He plays with a good motor and he projects well to outside linebacker because of his movement skills. He played end in college.

Redd, a University of Virginia transfer, could be one of the best athletes projected to go off the board in the last few rounds. As has noted before, he's built like Willie McGinest and has long arms to go along with an athletic frame. As one personnel evaluator said, he has a ton of untapped upside. But Redd also needs to get much stronger physically and scouts believe he'll likely be a practice squad candidate in his rookie season.

Craig played outside linebacker for two seasons so he'll be able to play there as the next level. He has good pass rush skills but some believe he's a project who will be on the practice squad in year one.

Kansas City Chiefs - League sources believe their first of two first-round selections will come down to DEs Chris Long and Vernon Gholston should they not trade the pick. It's believed the team will look for a developmental quarterback later in the draft and they would pass on Matt Ryan at No. 5.

Pittsburgh Steelers - With the realistic chance that RT Willie Colon moves to left guard to compete for the starting job against Chris Kemoeatu, the team may decide to address the left tackle position with their first or second-round selections. While starter Marvel Smith only turns 30 in August, there are some who question how much longer he'll hold up physically.

Possible targets are Duane Brown (Virginia Tech) and Gosder Cherilus (Boston College).

Brown has a second-round grade and played left tackle in his final collegiate season. Cherilus has a late first or second-round grade from most teams. Like Brown, he moved from right to left tackle for his final season.

Tennessee Titans - With their second-round selection, it's believed the team has a strong interest in Donnie Avery (Houston). The speedy wide receiver had a pre-draft visit with the team and  scouts believe Avery is a player who plays bigger than his listed size. The problem is Avery is now projected to go much earlier in the second round so Tennessee would have to trade up to get him.
