|When Glenn Dorsey went off the board, the Saints had to make a move to fortify their interior defense and went after Ellis, an outstanding one-gap defender who should contend for a starting role in New Orleans immediately. He had impressive workouts at the Senior Bowl and his pro day, and the Saints liked him so much he came to New Orleans for a visit. He's incredibly well built, is versatile enough to defend the run and the pass and is incredibly disruptive. The Saints were terrible against the pass and if he pans out, he could be an immediate boon to their defensive needs. He's considered an upfield penetrator and the Saints did a fine job moving up to get him. - Matt Postins, Saints Insider|
|With both of their starting two defensive tackles into their 30's, the team had to get younger in the interior of their defense and they've done that with Ellis. He's got a faster first step than Glenn Dorsey and he can be just as disruptive--he's just not as wide. Ellis will provide an immediate impact for a defense that is in dire need of help for the interior of their front four.|
