NFL Power Rankings

The teams at the very top of the Power Rankings aren't budging, but there was plenty of movement this week with a number of upsets and lopsided wins.'s Ed Thompson ranks the league's 32 teams as they prepare for Week 8 action.

2008 Power Rankings: Week 8
  TW LW Team Comments
1  1  Titans
As expected, they rolled over the Chiefs. They'll be put to a bigger test Monday night against a Colts team that should be fired up after a huge loss to the Packers.
2  2  Steelers
The Bengals didn't put up much of a fight last week. Pittsburgh hosts the defending World Champions in one of this Sunday's premiere matchups.
3  3 Bills
If Buffalo had any doubters, they should be convinced after an impressive win over the Chargers. QB Trent Edwards is looking sharp.
 4  4 Cardinals
Arizona had a bye, so they had an extra week to prepare for a Panthers team that dominated the Saints last weekend.
 5  5 Redskins
The Redskins squeaked by the Browns in a low-scoring affair. But at least they didn't lose to Cleveland like the Giants did, so they hold onto the No. 5 spot.
 6  6 Giants
The Giants posted a convincing win over the 49ers to show they belong near the top. Can they do the same at Pittsburgh this weekend?
 7  10 Buccaneers
QB Jeff Garcia threw for over 300 yards to lead the Bucs to a second straight win. Tampa Bay heads to Dallas for a big NFC matchup.
 8 12 Panthers
The Carolina defense stood tall against the Saints offense and QB Drew Brees. WR Steve Smith had 122 yards receiving for the Panthers.
 9 14 Falcons
Atlanta watched as five teams ahead of them last week crumbled. They'll play the Eagles, who also had a bye week.
 10 16 Packers
Green Bay defended their turf magnificently against Peyton Manning and the Colts in a lopsided affair. They get a well-deserved week off.
 11  18 Patriots
New England got out of their funk and dominated a Broncos team that now has to be wondering just how good they really are. They host the Rams this weekend.
12  7 Cowboys
This is a team that appears to be coming apart at the seams. They couldn't keep pace with the Rams, and now they have the Buccaneers up next.
 13 11 Chargers
The Chargers fell short, but at least they were in the game at Buffalo. San Diego heads to London to play the Saints, who are also coming off a tough loss.
 14  8 Broncos
Denver's dealing with some injury problems and has turned the ball over 12 times during their three losses. They have a week off to regroup.
15  9 Colts
After dominating the Ravens, the Colts were totally out of sync against the Packers. They need to get it back together quickly with the Titans up next.
 16  15 Jaguars
They had the week off, but benefited by the Jets' loss to Oakland. They face the Browns at home.
 17  19 Eagles
The Eagles also moved up a couple of slots despite having a bye. They'll be hosting the Falcons this weekend.
 18 20 Bears
The Chicago defense couldn't stop the Vikings from scoring 41 points, but the offense scored 48.  The Bears have the week off to recharge their batteries.
 19 13 Jets
New York slipped up big-time against a hungry Oakland team, losing in overtime. The Jets will most likely take out their frustration on the Chiefs this Sunday.
 20 17 Saints
The Saints offense hit a brick wall in Carolina. They'll attempt to rebound in London against the Chargers.
 21 23 Ravens
RB Willis McGahee rushed for 105 yards as the Ravens finally got some momentum going and scored on four possessions. They'll host Oakland on Sunday.
 22 21 Dolphins
QB Chad Pennington rolled up 295 yards passing against the Ravens, but the Dolphins tallied just 13 points. Buffalo is on a roll and is heading to Miami.
 23 22 Browns
Cleveland came up short in a low-scoring contest at Washington. TE Kellen Winslow will miss this week's game after being suspended by the team.
24 24 Vikings
Adrian Peterson's 121 rushing yards and Gus Frerotte's  298 through the air still weren't enough to get the win at Chicago. The Vikings have a bye week.
 25 28 Rams
The Jim Haslett era is off to a fine start in St. Louis with wins over the Redskins and then a huge one over Dallas. New England won't take them lightly this week.
 26 29 Raiders
Oakland claimed an overtime win on a booming field goal by Sebastian Janikowski. They travel to Baltimore this weekend.
 27 25 49ers
Mike Singletary takes over in San Francisco. Can he pull a Jim Haslett and get this team winning again?
 28 26 Texans
Houston beat the Lions and have the Bengals on tap this week. Who's next, a Pop Warner team?
 29 27 Seahawks
Who would have guessed that Seattle would be ranked last in passing yards this season? They host the Eagles this week.
 30 30 Chiefs
The Chiefs are a mess. Their top two QBs are on injured reserve and their top RB has been benched again. Ouch.
 31 31 Lions
Their offense is ranked 27th and their defense is ranked 32nd. Oh, and it gets worse. The Redskins are coming to town.
 32 32 Bengals
The Bengals may be able to give the Texans a game this weekend, but don't count on it.
