Atlanta Falcons Mid Term Report Cards

Falcons are clearly the biggest surprise at the mid point in the 2008 season. Who could possibly have ever predicted the Falcons would be 5 and 3 at the midway point of the season. Many things have gone right for the team that many experts believed last season was the worst in the professional ranks.

Comments: The key to the team's success offensively has been the offensive line, running back Michael Turner, receiver Roddy White and rookie quarterback Matt Ryan.

Defensively as individuals there are few people that get you very excited, but as a group, they have played far better than anyone expected. John Abraham is a talented outside rusher and the Falcons hope that second year professional Jamaal Anderson can take his game to another level after an unimpressive start as a rookie.

Mike Smith through the first half of the season, looks like a sure fire NFL Coach of The Year. He and his staff have shown patience, while at the same time inspiring many of the young players to believe in themselves.

When Tom Dimitroff was named the team's GM just prior to the Senior Bowl, I had no doubt that he would be successful in that role. He's smart, even tempered, patient and most importantly a football man.

I just don't see it happening this quickly, but the Falcons are a club that will make some noise in the not to distant future.
