Buffalo Bills Mid Term Report Card

They started quickly but in recent weeks, the Bills have lost three straight games within their division. Offensively the team has really struggled to put points on the board and over the past two weeks, have not done a particularly good job of protecting the quarterback, a key essential for success.

Comments: The Bills are one of the feel-good stories of the 2008 season. It all starts at the top and in Dick Jauron the Bills have one of the brightest, energetic, and stable coaches in the NFL. Defensive line coach Bill Kollar, is in my opinion the top defensive line coach in the NFL and one of these days a decision-maker or maverick owner is going to recognize the enormous organizational talents of assistant head and special teams coach extraordinaire Bobby April and give him a head coaching job.

Long time personnel man Tom Modrak has done a magnificent job of assembling a talented group of player, particularly when you consider that this small-market franchise has lost some key personnel via free agency over the last few years.

Trent Edwards has been nothing short of sensational in his second season with the club, while Lee Evans is a budding super-star within the league. Marshawn Lynch is a tough inside runner with excellent receiving skills and the return of Jason Peters at the left tackle position was a major boost to the offense.

On the defensive side of the football, Jabari Greer has been special on the back end; Paul Posluszny hasn't missed a beat since returning from a season-ending injury early in his rookie season. Veterans Marcus Stroud and Aaron Schobel have anchored the defensive front and is highly underrated football player.

The Bills kicking game is absolutely first rate, particularly when one considers the type of weather both punter Brian Moorman and place kicker Ryan Lindell are subjected to on a weekly basis. Leodis McKelvin, Roscoe Parrish and Terrence McGee are all excellent returner men.

Things haven't gone as well as expected in recent weeks, but I still like the Bills chances at this stage of the season. In the end I still believe the Patriots, are the class of the division, but this Bills' club have an even chance of advancing in the post season.
