Miami Dolphins Free Agent Confidential

With a cap number at or around one hundred million dollars for next season, there is a real chance that the Dolphins could not only re-sign a number of their core starters, but also could take a run at either a free agent or cap causality or two.

Comments - The Dolphins have a number of critical must "re-sign" individuals on the defensive side of the football. I'm predicting a little bump in the road for quite possibly the biggest surprise club of the 2008 season. Sure they beat the Patriots and Chargers, but other than the Jets they didn't beat another club with a winning record on the season. All I can say is thank goodness for the NFC and AFC West divisions. On offense Vernon Carey is a very important re-sign, primarily because there is nobody on hand currently on the roster to replace him. Defensively, I see some major problems ahead for the defending AFC East champions. Three starters in the secondary including both safeties and the clubs leading tackler are out there and the club needs to find a way to re-sign each of these key players if they are to have any real chance to repeat as divisional champions. The resigning of the clubs leading tackler Channing Crowder was looked upon as a positive step forward, but in my humble opinion, I believe him to be a highly over rated undisciplined football player. The Dolphins experienced a tremendous turn around season in 2008, but don't expect to sneak up on anyone during the 2009 season..
