Strengths: Arenas is a solid all-around cornerback who has great skills and cover ability. He’s outstanding off the line and possesses good footwork in all directions. He has awareness in coverage and quickly locates the ball. He has a great burst and quickly breaks on the ball to make a play. He’s disciplined and is aware of his surroundings. He plays physical and does a good job in run defense. He’s an outstanding special teams player and dynamic as a return specialist.
Weaknesses: He lacks ideal size for a corner and gets lost in the shuffle during running situations. He struggles against bigger wide receivers and needs help over the top. He’s destined to be a nickel corner at the next level.Steuber Says: Despite his size, Arenas is a valuable commodity to a team at the next level. He’s a physical corner who has great playmaking ability, and plays bigger than his listed dimensions. Arenas had an impressive 2009 season for Alabama, as he collected 71 tackles, 12 for a loss, five sacks and five interceptions. He’s a sound defender, but he will also have a major impact on special teams at the next level. He holds an SEC record with seven punt returns in his career, and with special teams being a valued unit, Arena’s value could soar this off-season.
