Senior Bowl Q&A: DT Jeff Owens

Scout.com's Ed Thompson caught up with Georgia's Jeff Owens the defensive tackle wrapped up his first practice of Senior Bowl week. Find out which NFL teams have already talked to the personable and hard-charging 6-foot-3, 304-pound defender as he works out in front of scouts and coaches in Mobile.

Ed Thompson: Jeff, your first day of practice at the Senior Bowl is in the books. Talk about what it was like being out here today.

Jeff Owens: It's a great experience. There's a lot of great talent, a lot of great athletes, so I'm trying to showcase my ability and show NFL scouts that I can play at the next level.

Thompson: What do you think is going to separate you from the others as scouts watch you this week?

Owens: I think the training I just got working with Pete Jenkins, using my hands more and focusing on my overall technique and fundamentals.

Thompson: What was it like battling one-on-one with some of those offensive linemen?

Owens: All five of the guys were good, you can't single out one guy. These are guys that I've read about while I was getting recruited for college and while they were getting recruited. And now we all come here to start that process again. It's great to see them and work with them. I'm having a wonderful time out here.

Thompson: It has to be a lot of fun for you to be talking to the talent evaluators from the NFL teams. Who are some of the teams that you've talked to so far?

Owens: So far the Vikings, Eagles, and Packers and a quite a few others.

Thompson: What was that experience like for you?

Owens: It was great. It helps make all of  this even more real. This is an experience that I'll always remember.
