Strengths: Blount is a big, powerful ball carrier with outstanding football instincts. He’s patient, waits for blocks to develop and makes defenders miss in a small area. He slides through the open creases of the offensive line, has a slashing style and is tough to bring down. He runs with great balance and is difficult to defend at the second level. He possesses good blocking technique and uses his strength to excel in pass protection.

Weaknesses: He runs upright and is prone to taking a lot of hard hits. He’s not a factor in the passing game and struggles with his route running. He has to improve his attitude and conditioning, and has to take football more seriously. Durability is an issue.

Steuber Says: A former JUCO standout, Blount emerged on the scene in 2008 when he rushed for 1,002 yards on 137 carries and scored 17 touchdowns. But it was this past year when he made headlines. The ordeal at Boise State cost him most of the 2009 season and it raised many eyebrows among the football universe. Blount is a boom or bust prospect and despite his off the field problems, he will hear his name called earlier than expected on draft day.
