Strengths: Asante is a physical, run defending safety who plays best in the box. He’s strong at the point and brings ball carriers down on initial contact. He moves well laterally, works well with others in the secondary and is effective facing the action. He takes good angles in pursuit, has a solid burst and closes fast to deliver a devastating punch.

Weaknesses: He has marginal ball skills and lacks playmaking ability. He plays overly aggressive at times and gets caught out of position. He doesn’t play with a great sense of urgency.

Steuber Says: Asante is a physical safety who doesn’t offer much as a playmaker, but he’s intimidating in the secondary. A former JUCO standout, Asante has spent three years at Nebraska and has only recorded three interceptions during that time. He’s a solid in the box defender and will be a standout special teams player at the next level. He will likely be a Day Two selection (2nd – 3rd Round) this year.
