Johnson has good upside, but doesn't have elite speed.

Strengths: Johnson is a versatile weapon who can contribute in multiple facets of a game. He’s a patient runner that waits for blocks to develop, finds the hole and has a burst of straight-line speed. He’s rarely brought down by the first defender, breaks tackles to pick up yardage, and delivers a blow to opponents by putting his shoulders down when tackled. He keeps his feet moving and carries the pile. He’s quick-footed in a small area with the ability to bounce around defenders.

Weaknesses: He’s not explosive and doesn’t possess great open field speed. He has the ability to be a good pass catcher, but he’s just average overall. Durability is an issue, and it remains to be seen how he reacts after a near tragic incident.

Steuber Says: Prior to Johnson’s near fatal accident, he was a promising player with a bright future. It appears that he’s back and ready to perform, and that’s why he competed in the Senior Bowl. He’s a situational runner who’s never rushed for 1,000 yards in a season, but if healthy, he could turn into an effective No. 2 runner.
