Atkins stock is on the rise after a stellar showing at the Senior Bowl.
Georgia Athletics

Strengths: Atkins is a strong interior defender. He has good initial quickness and is able to penetrate the middle. He has the strength and awareness to succeed against a bigger opposition. He has good balance and plays with great leverage. He makes a lot of plays in the backfield and has room to get even better. He defends the run well and is able to disengage to compete for a tackle.

Weaknesses: He tends to rely on his strength, rather than technique. He’s inconsistent in the trenches and wears down as the game progress; he’s not an every down player. He doesn’t play with passion and lacks focus.

Steuber Says: Atkins has been a rotation type of player at Georgia during his career. He has the talent to be an outstanding player, but physically he can’t take the every down pounding. He’s undersized and lacks motivation to play. This past season, Atkins played in all 13 games, but started just three and contributed 36 tackles, 10.5 for a loss, and three sacks. After a strong showing at the Senior Bowl and Scouting Combine, Atkins' stock is on the rise and he could ultimately land in the second round.
