Today on Houston Sports Radio 610, free agent defensive end Antonio Smith joined Nate Griffin and Patrick Creighton. Smith made it known that him and Head Coach Bill O’Brien have had conversations about his return.
“Me (O’Brien) and Him just got a good feel for each other and from what my agent tells me that the team and Coach O’Brien really like me. They’re looking forward to trying to work something out.”
This comes a little surprise to hear that the Texans could be interested in bringing back Smith for the 2014 season. With only two defensive lineman from last year 53 man roster under contract, the Texans have to figure out if bringing out Smith is financially possible.
Smith has had some of best seasons with the Texans since him being signed as a free agent in 2009. Since arriving to Houston from Arizona, Smith has started 78 games for the Texans with 27 sacks during that time.
