Texans Trade for Ryan Mallett

The Houston Texans added to their quarterback group by trading for Ryan Mallett.

The Houston Texans have pulled off a trade for New England Patriots quarterback Ryan Mallett according to league sources. The Texans traded a conditional 7th round draft pick in 2016 to acquire the 4th year quarterback who is in his last year of his rookie deal.

Mallett was drafted in the 3rd round out of Arkansas in the 2011 NFL Draft where he been stuck behind Tom Brady for the past three seasons. He has appeared in four games for the Patriots in mop up duty, and has only thrown four passes for 17 yards and 1 interception.

With the addition of Mallett expect the Texans to release Case Keenum. Mallett will be added to Ryan Fitzpatrick and Tom Savage as the quarterbacks on the 53 man roster.
