Brian Hoyer Returns to the Field
“He’s been cleared to practice, so he’s been out there practicing.” said Bill O'Brien, Brian Hoyer's status is still the same in the concussion protocol. Hoyer is pushing to get back in the field for Sunday but he is not putting himself at risk and is trusting team personnel to help him make the right decision.
This season the Texans are 4-4 in Hoyer's starts and he has thrown for 2,357 yards with 18 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.
O'Brien mentioned they will be playing it "by ear" and if they can put Hoyer on the field against the Tennessee Titans. Current backup to Hoyer, Brandon Weeden is trying to get as many reps as he can to get ready if needed.
“Off the practice field, it is the same. I am going to study the same." said Weeden. "I am going to do all of the same things, mentally, to try to get myself ready and then I may get a few extra reps this week than I did last week, a few extra throws to guys that I didn’t get in the past and that was probably the thing, I really didn’t get the chance to throw that many routes to these guys because there is just limited throws out there, so if I get the opportunity to make a couple of throws I might have to make if I were to play on Sunday, at least I have seen them once or twice and got a little bit of a feel for it.”
New quarterback B.J. Daniels has “No doubt.” that he will be ready for Sunday to be a back up either Hoyer or Weeden.
