The Houston Texans made it official and placed starting left tackle Duane Brown on the injured reserve with a torn right quad. With that move the team signed offensive tackle Andrew McDonald off the San Diego Chargers practice squad.
Brown is scheduled to have surgery on Wednesday to repair his quad and sets up veteran Chris Clark to take his place at left tackle in the starting lineup.
McDonald (6-6, 310 lbs.) is in his second season out of Indiana and has spent time with the Seattle Seahawks, Indianapolis Colts and Cleveland Browns. It will be a crash course for McDonald trying to get the Texans offensive system down.
With the signing of McDonald is marks the third former Browns player to spend time with them this season to end up in Houston. He joins guard Karim Barton and wide receiver Josh Lenz who are currently on the Texans practice sqaud.
