Houston Texans J.J. Watt locked up his third AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year award at the NFL Honors Award.
Here was Watt's acceptence speech.
“This is incredible.
I remember growing playing football with my brothers in the yard and just trying to tap my toes catching the ball before hitting the drive way. Or punting the ball and trying to down it on the one-yard line. You know all those little things we do as kids emulating our NFL stars that we loved growing up.
Growing up in Wisconsin, I had guys like Reggie White and Brett Farve and I always pretended that I was them in the front yard. For me to be able stand up here now and know there might be kids out there that the pretend that they are wearing #99 is literally one of the coolest things in the entire world.
The funny thing to me is, I was a 2-star coming out of high school going into college. Now I have three defensive player of the year trophies. So screw all of you guys who doubted me.
Thank you guys, thank you.”
