The Houston Texans continue to work diligently on the free agent market but came up short in the race for defensive lineman, Nick Fairley. Fairley signed a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints after deciding between them, the Texans, and the New England Patriots.
This is an interesting development for the Texans who are currently looking to find help on the defensive line front, trying to bolster their run defense and pass rush from the trenches.
Fairley was a 1st round pick by the Detroit Lions out of Auburn in the 2011 NFL draft. Fairley spent the 2015 season, his sixth in the NFL, with the St. Louis Rams on a one-year deal and became an important cog in their defensive front. Totaling 127 tackles and 14 sacks in his career, Fairley could have been a nice addition to a Texans defensive front that could use some help.
