Cornerback A.J. Bouye has opted to return to the Houston Texans signing his $1.671 million tender offered to him as a restricted free agent. With interest from the Chicago Bears and Tennessee Titans, Bouye decided coming back to the team that gave him the chance to break into the NFL in 2013 was the best option for him.
After appearing in 29 games the past two seasons, Bouye had 16 total tackles with 2 interceptions, and six pass deflections. 2014 was his breakout year as he primarily played the third cornerback in nickel and dime, totaling 59 tackles with 3 interceptions and 10 pass deflections. Bouye made the 53-man roster in 2013, undrafted out of Central Florida.
Signed as a rookie free agent, Bouye has become an important part of the Texans cornerback depth chart. The Texans are close to bringing back their 2015 cornerback depth chart with the return of Bouye. Bouye joins Johnathan Joseph, Kareem Jackson, Kevin Johnson, and Charles James who were all on the active roster last season.
