The Houston Texans To Host Alabama's Jarran Reed

The Houston Texans will host former Alabama defensive lineman Jarran Reed in a pre-draft visit.

The Houston Texans will host Alabama defensive end Jarran Reed at NRG Stadium. Reed is one of thirty pre-draft visits the team is allowed to conduct prior to the start of the NFL Draft. This is the second known occasion the Texans have met with Reed, the first being at the Reese’s Senior Bowl prior to the start of the off-season.

Reed (6’3”, 311 lbs.) played mostly defensive tackle (3-technique) for the Crimson Tide but showed enough versatility at the Senior Bowl to move to a 5-technique, which is a defensive end in a 3-4 defense. Reed, who played in 2015 for the national champions, appeared in 15 games, totaling 57 tackles with 1 sack and 4.5 tackles for loss. In that season, Reed was selected to the second team All-SEC by the Associated Press.

With the departure of long time Texans defensive end Jared Crick, the team is keeping a close eye on young defensive line personnel coming out in the 2016 NFL draft.
