The Houston Texans hosted Louisiana Tech running back Kenneth Dixon on a pre-draft visit. Dixon is one of the thirty pre-draft visits the NFL allows teams to conduct prior to the NFL Draft. In Dixon’s career at Louisiana Tech, he ran for a school record 4,480 yards and 72 touchdowns. His 72 touchdowns ranks fourth in NCAA history and ranked second in total touchdowns over the past four seasons only to Navy’s Keenan Reynolds.
In 2015 for the Bulldogs, Dixon rushed 197 times for 1,141 yards and 19 touchdowns and chipped in 34 receptions for 467 yards and 7 touchdowns. His senior season saw him land on the 1st team All-Conference USA team and invited to the Reese’s Senior Bowl and NFL Combine.
At the NFL Combine, Dixon ran a 4.58 second forty-yard dash, 18 reps on the bench press, 37.5 inch vertical jump and a 12”01’ broad jump. Dixon since the college season was finished beefed up to 222 lbs., up from his 215 lbs. playing weight in college.
Dixon, like many of the backs the Texans have talked to during the draft process are able to not only run but catch the football at a high level. The complete back is considered a second round pick by most draft analysts.
